Due to the modification of the Nursing and Rest Home
Bad Bocklet into a Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, it
is now possible to combine medical hospital treatment
with inpatient nursing care services. This means, for
those who are in need of intensive care the new center
provides a combination of medical treatment and inpa-
tient nursing care irrespective of the patients’ age.
As each bedside is equipped with medical gases and the
technical apparatus for monitoring all vital body func-
tions, the new Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is able
to provide medical services hitherto only supplied by
hospitals.
A combination of special in-house therapy areas and pati-
ent’s living areas allows both medical treatment and nur-
sing care, and it helps to make patients feel at home. An-
other important aspect of the interior design approach
was the accentuated use of color because the right col-
oring can contribute to the patients’ and the staff’s well-
being.
Extension works of the building comprised the construc-
tion of a central medical service area (nurses’ office and
therapeutic bath facilities) as well as a patient’s lounge
with a four-story balcony. Both functional areas were at-
tached to the centre of the building. Along the longitude-
nal axis of the building’s two wings the balconies, which
have a facade made of wooden jambs, were attached to
the living area. The balconies’ front formwork is made
of uncoated larch wood.
Inner and outer appearance of the building fit perfectly
into the rural neighborhood and the beautiful Saale Val-
ley. Already, the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center St.
Gabriele Residence Bad Bocklet has become an integrated
part of the Bad Bocklet health resort.
